**Please consult with your Midwife/OBGYN before returning to yoga after birth. Typically the recommendation is to wait at least four weeks for a vaginal birth and six weeks for a cesarean birth. I also strongly recommend seeing a Women's Health Physical Therapist if you're struggling with Pelvic Floor issues or Diastasis Recti. Please email me at lauren@laurengibbonsyoga.com if you need local recommendations.

Prenatal

Tuesdays at 7:00 pm
Little Company of Mary Hospital - Family Birth Center

Wednesdays at 7:00 pm
Beverly Yoga Center

Prenatal Yoga is now offered at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park (drop-in class format) and at Beverly Yoga Center in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood (3-week series format)! Increase strength and energy as you connect to your body, baby and deep inner wisdom. Prenatal classes include a balance of strength-building and restorative poses and are suitable for beginners. Modifications are offered for all stages of pregnancy.

Prenatal yoga can help you: align your pelvis, learn to both strengthen and relax your pelvic floor muscles, improve ease of falling asleep, get more restorative sleep, improve your circulation, lower blood pressure, increase spinal mobility and improve digestion. Yoga can also alleviate many common discomforts such as back pain, sciatica, SI pain, hip tightness, nausea, swelling and fatigue.

Please check with your OBGYN or Midwife before beginning a Prenatal Yoga program.

Dress comfortably and bring a water bottle and yoga mat. Don't worry if you forget! (pregnancy brain is real!). I have extra mats and all the props we need.

Yoga for Women's Pelvic Floor & Core

Sundays at 2:30 pm
Beverly Yoga Center
New 3-week series begins in June

Your pelvic floor is a source of your feminine energy and power. It’s also responsible for the vital task of supporting your pelvic organs and overall core canister.

By fostering a mind-body connection to your deep core muscles, including your pelvic floor you’re able to care for these important muscles for optimal long-term function and recognize issues if they come up.

In this 3-week workshop-style series, you’ll learn and practice:

  • Breathing and engagement techniques to isolate, strengthen and relax your pelvic floor and deep core muscles

  • Meditation and visualization techniques to help you get to know your core and pelvic floor

  • Yoga poses and corrective exercises for core and pelvic floor strengthening and relaxing

  • Postural and alignment tips to support healing from pelvic floor and core issues like incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and diastasis recti (DRA)

  • Yoga and functional movement practices to develop strength, balance and stability around the pelvis

Postpartum women and women of all ages and stages welcome!

Expect to receive personal attention and great care in these classes...the focus is on YOU.
